Glaucoma is also known as the silent thief of sight is the leading cause of blindness and everyone is at risk for it. Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve which sends information from the eye to the brain. This disease slowly affects peripheral vision which is imperceptible to patients. If glaucoma is untreated it can cause irreversible blindness. During an annual eye exam, we can detect early-stage glaucoma and begin treatment to slow down or completely stop the progression of glaucoma.
