Styes, also known as eyelid bumps, can be classified into two types: Hordeolums and Chalazions. These bumps are generally benign and arise from blocked tear glands. Hordeolums result from an infection, whereas Chalazions occur due to inflammation and affect different glands. Both types of styes can be linked to Blepharitis. To prevent styes from developing, one can use Lid Scrubs and Warm Compress. In case a stye has already developed, it may take a few weeks to disappear completely. However, one can speed up the process by using Warm Compresses in conjunction with prescribed antibiotics and steroids.
